Just back here after 3 months with a short update of my life.
I am (un)happily still working at the same tour agency. Recently many things have happened in my life (eg. my first Singapore GE 2015) & my finalization plan to go to Okinawa with my BFF .
I never thought I would be interested in politics in Singapore but for my first vote I really think hard and long about this voting.
I love PAP. (now before you anti-PAP haters come and bite on me)
I have got to say firstly that I am an unhappy Singaporean.
Do I want another government other than PAP ruling us? No. I really don't.
I think the most important thing for us, youth is to vote regardless of emotional feelings(Mr LKY's death, I cried like mad) and to really listen with our ears, see with our own two eyes and feel in our heart who we want to vote for. I know its too late to post this now that the election is over. But I found my friends voting for PAP just because LKY did a lot for us.
Voting for or against the PAP shouldnt be measured by MM Lee's contributions to us Singaporeans. But what we want to see the changes and improvement of Singapore in the next 4~5years.
TBH, I was disappointed with the grassroots leaders more than our Ministers in the government.
When our MP, Mr Lim Hng Kiang came for house to house visits (which IMHO, I have high respect for him since I was like, getting my kindergarten graduation certificate from him)
My maternal grandma was getting old with senile dilemma and we (my mom & I) wanted to check if there was any activities my grandma could take part in like knitting, drawing or anything old people do to keep themselves entertained at the CCs. My grandma is also diabetic and weak in the knees and her feet will swell up if she walks too much. When Mr Lim came, we asked him if there was any such activities for old people in Telok Blangah and he gave a blur look to one of the ladies beside him which was fine with me. He is the MP he doesnt have to remember small things like "Do we have recreation activities for the old folks in Telok Blangah Heights/Drive?" although he should have known but I don't blame him for not knowing.
The lady enthusiastically replied in a loud booming voice " YES YES! There is Just go down to the RC (near the police station i think) and ask" and my mom (who is a huge fan of Mr Lim) was all cheers and happy and shook his hand pledging her vote to him/PAP.
Then when we went to search for this supposedly fun place for old folks. It's non-airconditioned and there is only 1 bored looking woman sitting behind the desk when we asked her things, she just waved us off to Henderson CC.
