I Give My First Love To You |
“My love has a time limit. It is shorter than others. I don’t have time to waste. I have to shine brightly, like fireworks in the summer sky.”
Takuma (Masaki Okada) was born with a weak heart. At a young age of 8 years old he was sentenced to death that he wouldn’t live to see 20. Devastated by this truth, he didn’t lose the hope of living with the help of his playful best friend Mayu (Mao Inoue). Both made a promise to a four leaf clover God that they will grow up together, be with each other always and of course marry each other.
Takuma and Mayu grew up to be this young and lovely couple. However, reality sinked in for Takuma that he doesn’t have much time to live and he doesn’t want to hurt Mayu so he decided to break up with her.

“You’re just too nice not to leave my side”
|
|
“What’s it like to lose someone dead to you? When he dies, what will happen to you? You’ll be devastated. It’ll pain me to watch.”
|
However, the death of Takuma’s friend who had the same heart disease as him, made him realize the value of his life as well as his love for Mayu. He made a promise to Mayu that he will not die.
|
“Mayu, my beloved, I will not die.” |
With his 20th year coming near, Takuma got the glimpse of what his future awaits when they finally got a heart transplant donor. However, fate is about to change things when Takuma found out that his heart donor is a good friend who’s now in a coma with no hope of waking up.

“What does it mean to live? Do I have to take a friends heart to live longer?” |
I Give My First Love To You. This Japanese drama is probably one of the most heartbreaking movies I have ever seen. If you’re watching this, better have a box of tissue on your side.
I love the story, the acting this is one mellow drama that you shouldn’t miss. It’s full of heart, full of love. The two main casts, Masaki and Mao (Playing Takuma and Mayu), were the perfect couple. Mayu’s playful and clingy character would surely bring to tears as she shows Takuma everything that she’s willing to do just so he will live.
This movie would make you realize how precious life is and for a love that’s timed, there’s no need and no reason to hold back.

“I don’t regret anything. No matter how many times we meet again, I’d definitely fall in love with you again.” |
